Singapore Airlines (SQ) has announced that it will begin flying the 787-10 aircraft to Perth. This makes Perth the second destination for the Singapore Airlines 787-10. It will also be the first scheduled service of the aircraft into Australia.

The latest stretched version of the Dreamliner will operate on one of the existing flights that SQ currently operate to Perth.  Currently SQ operate a mix of 777 and A330 aircraft on the route.

While the flights are slated to begin in May, the exact start date, and which flight have not yet been announced.

Singapore Airlines are planning to use the 787-10 on flights within Asia Pacific. As such, it is being fitted with a 2 class cabin – business and economy, with a total of 337 seats.

The Business cabin is being fitted out with a Business Class cabin, consisting of 36 seats in a 1-2-1 layout. Economy will be decked out with 301 seats, with most of the cabin having a 3-3-3 layout.

The switch of one flight to the 787-10 will add 38,000 seats per year onto the route. This represents approximately a 5% increase in the amount of seats SQ operates on the route.

Prior to the launch of services to Perth, the 787-10s will be operated on selected flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for crew training purposes, before the first scheduled service to Osaka in May 2018.
