Palau
Palau is an Island Nation in the pacific. In fact, it’s a lot of islands – it consists of over 300 island, and is generally located in the Micronesia region of the Pacific. Furthermore, it is home to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Rock Islands.
From a tourism perspective, Palau is a world-renowned diving location. Tourists can undertake activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling in various areas around the country.
However, there is more than just diving. Some other things to note:
- Palau created the world’s first shark sanctuary in 2009, protecting around 600,000 square kilometers of ocean.
- Palau is home to Jellyfish Lake, where millions of non-stinging jellyfish migrate across the lake daily
- Palau requires all visitors to sign the Palau Pledge upon arrival, a commitment to protecting the island’s ecological and cultural heritage during their stay.
During the sale launch Kadoi Ruluked, Director of Palau Visitors Authority said
This connection will make it even easier for Australians to explore Palau’s pristine waters, world-famous dive sites, lush tropical jungles, war history and authentic cultures. The ‘Palau Paradise Express’ will not only boost tourism but also strengthen trade, cultural exchanges and economic ties between Palau and Australia.”
“We look forward to sharing our island’s natural beauty with Qantas customers and welcoming more tourists and business travellers to experience the very best Palau has to offer.
Where to Stay?
If you take the flight there, you would be looking at either an overnight stay, or an 8 day stay. As such you’d need somewhere to stay. Fortunately, there seem to be a number of options available. Fore example, Hotels.com lists a range of hotels. These range from guesthouses to high-end resorts.
