It’s roughly a year since the travel came to an abrupt halt in 2020. While it is now showing some signs of recovery, many still have not had the opportunity to travel.
As a result, Qantas has announced a further extension of Qantas Club memberships. This time around they are extending memberships by 3 months. After the initial six-month extension in April 2020, and a further six-month extension in September, it brings the total to 15 months.
In addition, Qantas will extend the validity of complimentary lounge passes by three months.
Qantas Club Extension
According to the Qantas website, all paid members current on 23 March 2021 will get an additional three months of membership. The extension applies to individual, corporate, partner, or group memberships, and annual guest cards.
You do not have to do anything, as Qantas will be applying the extension automatically.
Lounge Invitations
Qantas will be extending the validity of most complimentary lounge invitations by three months. You do not have to do anything – it will be applied automatically. You will be able to see the new expiration date online.
There are a couple of exceptions to the extension of the lounge invitations. Firstly, lounge invitations issued to Silver Frequent Flyers will not be extended. This is because they will have received an additional invitation through the Status Extension. Secondly, extensions will not apply to invitations earned through the Qantas Points club.
Thoughts
It is good to see Qantas make this additional extension. While travel is slowly returning to normal, there is still a way to go. Having said that, most of the Qantas Domestic Lounge network.
The Qantas Club extension is in addition to the status extensions offered to Qantas Frequent Flyers. For the moment, there are no further changes to the previously announced extension programs.
